Many weapons tried to replace the outstanding firepower, reliability and accuracy of the M4 carbine.
One of those is developed by company LWRC (USA), SRT carbine which shares about 80% of its parts with
the M4 carbine and was presented
in 2006. Similar to the HK416 assault rifle it uses the same short-stroke self-regulating gas
piston system which reduces the heating and maximizes the reliability.
Specifications also claim this is an outstanding rifle which was built for different cartridges
from 5.56×45mm NATO to 7.62×51mm NATO. Its fire rate is around 800 rounds a minute while the muzzles
can achieve speeds up to 2800 feet a second.
Many different versions of KWRC M6 were created due to the different demands on battlefields around
M6 and M6A1 were the original basic models which are very similar to the M4.
M6A2 is also one of the LWRC's standard carbines and it can be used in multiple roles due to the
optional longer barrel and is being used by US Drug Enforcement Administration.
M6A3 was designed to be a designated marksman rifle.
M6A4 is being developed by US Marines as one of infantry automatic rifles which will be replacing the
older M249 light machine gun. It is still awaiting to be tested.
PSD was created for tasks of the submachine gun providing greater firepower.
REPR (Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle) is the model which is using 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge
