XM307 is an Advanced Crew Served Weapon or ACSW which has a massive fire-power with 25mm belt-fed ammunition which
is fired at rate of 260 rounds per minute.
This heavy machine gun is meant to be used by a two-men crew. It is lightweight and portable as well it can be
mounted on a vehicle. The XM307 can shot and hit enemy soldiers out to 2000 meters and destroy light
armored vehicles, helicopters or watercrafts at 1000 meters. This system was under development by
General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products for U.S. army but was canceled in 2007 as a part
of the Small Arms Master Plan program. It was intended to replace the Mk19 automatic granade
launcher and the M2 heavy machine gun. The primary advantage is its attenuated recoil system.
It was suppose to be used as a large tripod behing the sandbags. XM307 could also be converted into
XM312, a .50 cal version for infantry. A ROV or Remotely operated variant system is under
development, it is suppose to be used on vehicle and remotely operated from within the vehicle.
